Welcome
The Ontario Research Centre for Computer Algebra (ORCCA) performs
fundamental research and development in mathematical software,
focusing on computer algebra. The Centre was founded in 1999 with the
support of government and private sector sources.
Faculty from the University of Waterloo and the University of Western Ontario conduct
research on a range of topics in computer algebra including:
- languages and environments,
see Maple and
Aldor
- symbolic-numeric algorithms
- symbolic linear and non-linear algebra
- symbolic analysis of ODE's and PDE's
- software for mathematical communication
Over the past two years 9 research chairs have been awarded for
visits of varying lengths. In addition, ORCCA has hosted 6
postdoctoral fellows, 32 graduate students at the masters and Ph.D. levels
and several undergraduate research assistants.
The Centre has been host to ECCAD and SONAD in May 1999, ISSAC in July 2001
as well as Symbolic Computational Algebra '02 in July 2002.
