Abstract: We present the problem of notation selection in mathematical computing environments. For various reasons, users may require mathematical software to employ different output notations for the same expression in a variety of settings. How this can be managed in a general way is the subject of this report. We describe a software tool that can be configured extensively to allow mathematical packages to provide output according to specified notation preferences.
